NEOTEC convoluted air springs (ABT series) are compact, bellows-type air springs for lift axle and auxiliary applications. The convoluted construction allows a greater angle between the top and bottom plate than a rolling lobe design, which is what makes it suitable for lift axle systems where the movement is not purely axial. Built on the same four-layer rubber and cord construction as the rest of the NEOTEC range, produced under the same OELine™ process discipline, and engineered and made in Europe.
What are convoluted air springs?
A convoluted air spring has its rubber body divided into two or three convolutions by internal girdle rings. That shape gives a shorter stroke and a higher load capacity than a rolling lobe of comparable size, and it tolerates a greater angle between the top and bottom plate.
In commercial vehicles this is what lift axle systems need: the air spring works through frequent lift and lower cycles, in limited space, with movement that is not purely axial.
